Dipika at Community Gardens

As Mississauga grows, we know that much of that growth is coming in the form of intensification making back yards scarce. That is why along with more green space we need more community gardens.

Typically, community garden plots are a one-time lottery. Once a person gets a spot, they can use it for life, locking everyone else out. Given the acute shortage of community gardens this seems unfair. So, with this new community garden, I pushed for a fairer system. The garden lots will come up for lottery every 3 years making it much fairer to every one. The better solution is of course more community gardens in Ward 7!
